Animex Networking

First up - apologies, I totally forgot to take my camera. However, aside from that the event was great, and completely highlighted the importance of networking in the animation industry. At first the networking party really did resemble a school disco - with huddles of employers talking amongst themselves and students lining the sides of the open space more concerned with their peers than with the prospect of a career at Framestore, Dreamworks, Valve, Realtime UK, Mackinnon and Saunders or many other employers.

However, and very encouragingly, after 45 minutes of enforced (literally by me occasionally dragging students and employers alike into a circle) speednetworking, it became difficult to stop with students hunting down every last employer in the room to show off their reels and portfolios.

Networking then, vital skill to master for a career in animation.
